About Us

by Reverend Sallie Fox

What would be the perfect name for a religion or spiritual path that emphasizes the oneness and connectedness of all creatures in our universe with God, their divine Source? What could we possibly call such a religion that teaches about a God who is everywhere present, all-knowing, all-powerful, all good, and absolutely loving? And how could we refer to a faith that assures us that the divine presence of God is always within us, no matter who we are or have been in the past? How about “Unity”? Sounds good to me!

Unity began as a spiritual movement in the 1880s, when its co-founders, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, experienced physical and spiritual healing through the use of affirmative prayer, and wanted to share their discovery with others. Through affirmative prayer and gratitude, we claim the truth of who we are, as God’s precious creations, made in God’s image, whose divine purpose it is to “be the light of the world”. Through meditation and time in the silence, we listen to God’s wisdom and guidance, knowing that everything in our lives is in perfect divine order.

About Reverend Sallie Fox:

Since October of 2005, Unity Church of Peace has been my spiritual home, and my service as Senior Minister here has been a great source of my personal joy and fulfillment.

My vision in ministry is to awaken to, and express from, the Divine Spirit that we all are, and to inspire others to do the same. I have a passion for public speaking, as well as engaging in and co-creating the spiritual experience of Sunday morning services. I teach classes on basic Unity principles and practices, such as prayer and meditation, prosperous living, compassionate communication, and metaphysics, among others. I also enjoy conducting spiritual counseling, doing pastoral care, performing special ceremonies, and leading retreats.

Prior to taking the pulpit, I was privileged to work in St. Louis as a professionally trained critical care and hospice chaplain. I also served as a frequent guest speaker at the area’s other Unity churches. I was licensed and ordained as a Unity minister in June of 2002, at the Unity School of Christianity in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Before becoming a minister, I taught English and Linguistics at the University of South Florida, in Tampa.
