Five Basic Principles of Unity

1) God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.

2) I am naturally good because God’s Divinity is in me and in everyone.

3) I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.

4) Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.

5) I do and give my best by living the Truth I know. I MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

“Our mission is not to entertain the children, but to call them out. To be always entertained is to be dwarfed and dependent. To be "called out" is to follow the harmonious law of the soul's unfoldment.”

"Myrtle Fillmore
Co-founder of Unity

All children are welcome to attend the Youth Education classes of Unity Church of Peace. Classes are offered during our Sunday 10:30 a.m. service. We invite children to attend the beginning of the service, where we open with the singing of easy, well-known songs, a welcome by our minister, the Reverend Sallie Fox, and a reading. We then offer the children a blessing before sending them on to class:

We love you.
We bless you.
We appreciate you.
And we behold the Christ in you!
Unity Church of Peace supports three levels of Sunday School activities:

Pre-K through Fifth Grade (ages 4-11)
We teach our younger children using a curriculum, Celebrating My God Self, which uses songs, crafts, Bible readings, skits and other games to teach the Five Principles of Unity, including Unity’s traditions of prayer and meditation.

Sixth thru Eighth Grade (ages 11-14)
The “Uniteens” use curricula, such as Bring On The Basics, to further explore the divinity within each of us, our relationship to God and to the world, and the power we hold to use love to change our own lives.

High School (9th-12th, ages 14-19)
The Youth of Unity, or Y.O.U., have a more self-directed class, with a sponsor rather than a teacher. The Y.O.U. teens discuss how the principles of Unity can help them to deal with the issues in their lives and to become the mature leaders of tomorrow.

Y.O.U. uses many different readings, such as Lessons in Truth for Y.O.U., based on one of the most important texts of Unity, and Unity Basics for Life, which furthers understanding of the Five Principles. In addition, the Y.O.U. holds fundraisers, such as the “Grands” celebration lunch pictured below, to enable them to attend regional and national rallies, where they meet other youth learning about Unity.

First Sundays

On the first Sunday of each month, Rev. Sallie offers a simplified Children’s Lesson, introducing the children to the congregation, and engaging them with questions.

On the fourth Sunday of each month, Sandy Manz helps the children participate in an arts & crafts project.
